Baby Boy Blanket
This little blanket is for a friend's baby boy who arrived earlier this year. It is strongly inspired by Amy Karol's Scalloped Baby Blanket from her great book Bend-the-Rules Sewing. I already made two blankets from that pattern, but didn't show them here, because the pictures I managed to take before I sent them away were less then inspiring. See some much more fabulous pics than mine for example here, here, here and here.
As the teddy bear fabric is already quite cutesy, I decided to skip the scallops in this case, but I rounded the corners. Which also made for a quicker project to sew. Ha! I decided to go with Amy's hint not to pre-wash the fabric before sewing and the backing fabric shrunk quite a bit when I washed the completed blanket, so it already has a bit of a lived-in look, which I quite like. That may be not everybody's cup of tea, though, so I hope the recipient and his mom will like it!
